How To Prepare
It’s best to have nothing (no make up, moisturizer) on the skin as this will be removed anyway.
It’s important to stay still and pay attention to directions. You may be asked to make certain facial expressions to identify problem areas.
Ice can be applied before and after treatment.
Dos
Ask questions.
Discuss your areas of concern with your practitioner and listen to feedback to come up with the best plan of action.
Start slowly.
Focus on priority areas. A conservative approach is always better. Small changes can make you a better version of yourself. A lot of botox or filler is not better than a little in the right areas.
Have realistic expectations.
Be patient. Botox may take up to 2 weeks to work properly. Touch ups can be considered after that, if needed. Repeat treatment may be needed in 3-4 months.
Don’ts
Avoid blood thinning medication and supplements before and after (Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Naproxen, all anti-inflammatories, Vitamin E, herbal supplements, St. John's Wort, Fish Oil, etc.)
Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours, as this may alter optimum results.
Try not to rub or massage the injected areas, since it can cause the medication to travel to unwanted regions.
Avoid excessive sun exposure until redness or swelling has dissipated.
No facials, chemical peels, laser treatments, hot or steam showers for 24 hours.
What To Expect
It is normal to expect slight discomfort during the injection.
Bruising, redness, and tenderness are not uncommon after the procedure.
Bruising may be treated with Vitamin K or Arnica.
Temporary muscle weakness may be a normal side effect in the area injected.
A follow up is recommended 2 weeks after the procedure.
